How To Celebrate Easter During Quarantine With A Child with Autism

During these unprecedented times, it is important to be on top of things if you are a parent with a child that has autism. In today’s current climate, a lot of things are closed, and it is uncertain when they will reopen again. That being said, you still want to celebrate Easter and make the most out of it.

You have to be creative during Easter and come up with fun and outside-the-box ideas to keep your child entertained. If you are able to work from home, it is going to be a little bit easier. If you still have to go to work, you have to rely on someone else to take care of some of it. Whatever the case is, it is time to make a memorable Easter, regardless of the circumstances.

In many cases, you are their full-time teacher now. With that responsibility, you have to know how to make sure your child stays entertained and is still learning while in quarantine. One of the ways you can do that is by allowing your child to dye eggs. This is a lot of fun for them, as they love to see the bright and colorful eggs that can come out of this. By allowing them to pick the colors of the eggs, it allows them to truly enjoy the process to the fullest. They feel as though they are part of creating it and understanding the colors and how it all comes together.

If you live in an eastern state, you probably have to be especially careful during this time. There is no telling how long it is going to last. For the kids, they might have a lot of questions and a lot of confusion. It is important to keep their brains fresh, so they don’t get too rusty during this time in quarantine. If you have multiple kids, the challenge of them getting along each and every day is another one you have to be mindful of as well.

Another fun idea for the kids is to allow them to decorate the basket. It is vital that they feel like they are playing an important part in this. For a child with autism, it helps them feel like they are taking part in something that is building their self-esteem. It also helps them with their fine motor skills while also understanding the importance of Easter. It is a win-win.

They can also work with foam egg crafts as well. It cannot be overstated the value of colors when a child is autistic. They learn what they all mean and how they can work together. It helps them learn how to work together with other children as well.
Even though Easter might be a little bit different this year, it doesn't mean they can't participate in some fun crafts to keep them stimulated and entertained.
