The IGT After School Advantage Program: A Partnership for Progress

Smart devices have revolutionized learning at the Immortelle Centre for Special Needs in St. Anns. The transformative journey began in 2015 when IGT, through its After School Advantage (ASA) program, donated advanced technology to the school. This partnership marked the start of a series of technology donations, including smart TVs, tablets, desktops, and learning apps, which have dramatically benefited the classroom environment. “Smart devices have helped our students build confidence and become more independent, and we are very grateful for IGT’s support,” said Ms. Charlene Gittens, Principal of Immortelle Centre. The school, which supports lifelong learning for individuals with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, has seen its students using the devices to gain skills in searching for information, independently using software, and maintaining calm and focus. This expanded access to technology aligns perfectly with the school’s mission of nurturing independent and productive citizens, proving that the integration of advanced technology can significantly enhance the educational experience for children with special needs.

We re-engage our NGO partners each year to assess and support their technology needs.” Each year, IGT reassesses the needs of its community partners, with particular emphasis during Autism Awareness Month in April. This ongoing support ensures that the provided technology remains relevant and continues to meet the evolving needs of children with autism.

Additionally, projectors and laptops have been provided to the Caribbean Kids and Families Therapy Organisation (CKFTO) to support pediatric therapy services. Through these efforts, IGT’s ASA program continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of children with autism, ensuring that they have the tools necessary to navigate their educational journeys and develop essential life skills.
